Show Me State V is in the books

We had a good turnout from both Missouri clubs as well as several out of state competitors.  The temperatures held up pretty well for us, but the wind proved to be the biggest challenge to overcome.  When the fur settled, we crowned Joey Casey & Char with his first overall title in the novice division edging out Sandy Casey & Fierce.

Kathleen & Walter (top) won the senior division edging out one of our very own Mike & Rio (bottom).

The pro division presented several twists and turns in order to crown a champion.  Jonathon Offi and Jeff Scheetz & Killy had a throw off for 3rd and 4th and then Jeff also had a tie breaker throw off with Chris Knapp and Jack for 2nd.  After the last throw was made in virtual darkness, Jeff Scheetz and Killy (left) emerged as the runner up and Troy Mool & Jazmin (right) managed to take the title giving the home club STLDD bragging rights for the first time since the competitions inception.

Night of the "Living Disc Dogathon Recap"!

Our under the lights disc dogathon was a huge success.  What a great night! Purina Farms was hopping all day with dock diving, flyball, agility, and a disc dogathon that went into the wee hours of the morning with the last throw and catch being made at 2:45 am.  We had an outstanding turnout from our favorite sister club, the KC disc dogs and our neighbors to the east, the Derby City disc dogs.  We also an absolute overwhelming number of novice competitors throw their hat in the ring for the first time.  We would like to give a special, warm welcome to the St. Louis Disc Dogs newest members Jay Veltman and Gibson, Kelsey Tipton and Loli, Kelly and Chris Luckett with Eisly, and Dennis & Jessica Hunt with Charcoal and Cinnamon.  Thank you to purina farms for allowing us to host such a wonderful event.  Special thanks to John Casey for providing the MC entertainment and keeping everybody awake and engaged throughout the night.  One word to describe the event, 'Epic"  Lots of great individual performance with 5 world qualifiers being handed out, as far as I the first ever cookout being held while the competition was going on, and just the greatest out pouring of friendship and camaraderie you will find in the sport anywhere.  Thank you everyone that participated and made this night so eventful.  It will be a tall order, but we will now start planning to try and figure out how to make next year even bigger and better!!!  As always, for complete results go to http://discdogevents.com!!!!!

Hot Jam!!!!

It's that time of year again.  The STLDD HOT JAM is right around the corner and it is shaping up to be the best one yet.  This year it will be a USDDN world qualifier on Saturday so come and get that ticket punched to the world championships in Carterville Georgia in October.  Saturday evening we will be having an informal pizza party under the lights and letting the dogs do some dock diving to cool off from a hard days work.  On Sunday, it gets even hotter with a Skyhoundz Xtreme Distance world qualifier on the line in 3 different classifications.  Come out and show us how "airing it out is divine."  For all the details, click below to go to our competition page.  Hope to see everyone there!

Almost forgot to mention, rumor has it that you might be able to attain an exclusive, internationally sought after, hot jam shirt ...

Spring Friendly 2013

Our annual Spring Friendly is the way we kick off the disc dog season in style.  It was a little cold and rainy, but after a long off season the dogs didn't seem to mind at all.  They were very excited to get on the field and strut their stuff.  Troy Mool and Jazmin took the pro overall championship just edging out Jeff Scheetz and Killy.  Tammy Peterson and Rodeo won the novice overall with Sandy Casey and Fierce finishing as runner up.  We introduced a new senior division (over 50) to our competitions this year.  Kathy Guentz and Shaylee won the inaugural event with Stephen Collins and Mattie coming in runner up.  Sky, Domino, Avery, and Marino made their STLDD competition debuts and many members of our club walked away with some hardware from the days events.  All in all it was a great start to the season.  Thank you Ann Wilheim and Deb Crooks for taking all the great pictures and to all the KCDD'ers and other road warriors making the trip over to our event.

Mardi Gras 2013

We are off to an exciting start in the 2013 year! Thank you to the generosity of The Great Grizzly Bear Bar we were able to run our own beer booth for Mardi Gras in Soulard. Many volunteers and member spent hours of their days popping open cans, pouring liquids, cleaning and much more at the full day event. STLDD is grateful for all the help they received as the funds raised are being put towards our group shirts, discs, event coordination and donations to local shelters and rescues.

Don't forget to check out our facebook page for latest news, training discussions or just to get in touch with some disc loving people and their amazing canines.
