Spring Friendly 2015 is in the books. Despite the rain trying to ruin the day, us hardcore disc doggers persevered and had a lot of fur flying fun. Thank you to everyone that came out and joined us today, and congrats to all the winners. Most notably, our overall winners: In Novice: Jennifer Dace & Drago took the title for their first overall win, Scott Crump & Zoe took 2nd, and Matt Wheat & Sam finished a respectable 3rd in their first ever competition. In Senior Division: Mike Guentz & Skye took their first overall title just beating out Kathy Guentz & Shaylee who got 2nd. Steve Gannon & Penny finished 3rd in their first competition. In Pro: Troy & Jazmin take their 4th straight Spring Friendly title. Chris Knapp and Marino finished a close 2nd putting on the pressure all day and Kathy Mills & Keegan take 3rd and were very competitive all day long as well.
Next event on the calendar is an Updog event that will again be hosted at Purina Farms. More details willing be coning regarding this event so follow us on facebook to keep up with all the latest happenings. Updog is a relatively new set of games that we get to play with our dogs. Most of our communication happens via our facebook page, but we will also do a better job again this year with keeping the web page updated, especially the calendar, so we can keep as many people up to date on club activities as possible. With that being said, the calendar now has the dates of our 4 annual competitions that we hold at the beautiful Purina Farms in Gray Summit MO. We are still working out the details of club play dates/learning sessions and will update you on those when we have finalized those days and times. If you are looking to get a jump on the disc dog season, one of our members (Jason Rigler) is holding weekly training sessions at the Event Center all through February on Wednesday nights from 7-8:30pm $10 per person. All details on facebook with updated agenda for each week's session. Also, Jason is hosting drop ins on Monday's from 6-7:30pm this is just open play with your dog in rotation with other members. Come and go at your leisure, and individual instruction available during this time as well.
I have had several requests for when our group will be getting together next for playdate. The calendar is very tight with lots of things going on the next few weeks, but there are some opportunities to come meet group members, ask questions, and get advice.
The first is next Saturday 9/27. A few of our members will be doing a demonstration in conjunction with Strut Your Mutt.
This will be held at:
Tilles Park, 9551 Litzsinger Road, Saint Louis, Missouri 63124
The event parade/walk starts at 9:30. Our club will be doing 2 demos. One at 10:15 and one at 11:45. Come out and see a demo and meet with us in between shows for instruction and additional information.
The next opportunity is October 12th. This will be in conjunction with the Canine Games and be held at Purina Farms in Gray Summit Mo. All the information on this event can be found in on their website: http://www.stlsamoyed.com/caninegames.php
We are available throughout entire event for instruction, info on club, etc
Then, 2 weeks later we hold our last competition of the year. This will also be at Purina Farms. No experience necessary and we love having new people come and see what this sport is all about. Come out, meet some great people, play a couple games with your dog, and just have some fun. All completion information and specifics can be found by going to http://www.discdogevents.com
Lastly, save date of Nov. 9th. This will as we may be part of Dogs on Duty event at St Charles Petco. More info to come on this in a couple of weeks.
